beneficiaries to compare medication prices based on the individuals'
health plans and personal information.

Medicaid Providers to Medicare Drug Coverage
The Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act,
also known as the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA), is bringing
better benefits and expanded health plan options to people with
Medicare. Beginning January 1, 2006, MMA includes prescription
drug coverage. |

Medicare’s prescription
drug coverage will replace the Medicaid pharmacy
benefit for Michigan’s low-income elderly
and the disabled. Your most vulnerable patients could
be without prescription drug coverage unless they
take action by December
31, 2005.

On December 31, 2005, your current
Michigan Medicaid or EPIC prescription drug coverage
benefit will end. It will be replaced by Medicare’s
new prescription drug program. To continue coverage,
you must enroll before December 31, 2005.

Compare Prescription Drug
Plans this October. The new Medicare Drug Coverage
program will provide
at least two drug plans to choose from.
Each plan will have its own list of covered drugs.
Plan options will
be slightly different than the Medicaid or EPIC
pharmacy benefit.
